Details & Abstract
We hosted an engaging Exoplanet Hunting Workshop, introducing methods used to discover planets beyond our solar system. We highlighted Techniques like detecting stellar brightness dips and discussed missions such as the Kepler Space Telescope and Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite were highlighted. Participants also learned how anyone can contribute by analyzing real exoplanet data.
What Happened
Our astronomy club did a workshop about finding planets outside our solar system, called exoplanets. Rohan Kumar, one of our club Office Bearers, taught us all about it. He explained how scientists find these planets. They use different methods, like seeing how a star's light dips when a planet passes in front of it. He also talked about space telescopes like Kepler and TESS, which are important for finding exoplanets. Rohan showed us how we can even help find exoplanets by looking at real data online. He said anyone can do it. The workshop was really interesting, and now we know more about how planets are found around other stars.
