Singularity hosted a fascinating session on radio astronomy, led by fourth-year student Nishant Deo. Nishant provided an insightful overview of this unique field, explaining how radio telescopes detect celestial objects by capturing radio waves. He delved into the principles of radio interferometry, the significance of spectral line observations, and the groundbreaking discoveries made through radio astronomy. The session sparked immense interest, demonstrating the diverse and powerful tools used to explore the universe beyond visible light. Nishant Pradeep Deo is a Master’s thesis student at the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics - University of Oxford collaboration. He is passionate about research in astronomy and astrophysics, with a focus on radio astronomy. His current work involves pulsar pipeline development as part of the SPOTLIGHT Project at the GMRT.
